Some geocaches in the list may have been lost (washed away, stolen, etc), if you come across any of these, please let me know. Every state now has at least one geocache within 1 mile of an airport. Most I've randomly looked up, but several have been suggested by pilots. Want yours or a favorite added? Email me at chris at airportgeocaches dot com.

When requesting to add a geocache, using the format found on the listings, which is:

Airport ID (ex. KLAX)

Airnav link (ex. pasted link http://www.airnav.com/airport/KALB)

Geocaching.Com link: (ex. pasted link http://www.geocaching.com/map/default.aspx?lat=41.15564&lng=-104.81047)

The best ones are the ones within walking distance of the ramp areas.

Try to avoid "member only" or ones that require a paid subscription.

What is Geocaching? (from Geocaching.com's website)

Geocaching is an entertaining adventure game for gps users. Participating in a cache hunt is a good way to take advantage of the wonderful features and capability of a gps unit. The basic idea is to have individuals and organizations set up caches all over the world and share the locations of these caches on the internet. GPS users can then use the location coordinates to find the caches. Once found, a cache may provide the visitor with a wide variety of rewards. All the visitor is asked to do is if they get something they should try to leave something for the cache.

The Airport Connection?

Us pilots like looking for reasons to go flying. I figured I'd put up some geocaches that are fairly close to airports so we can go do something to walk off that $100 hamburger. I'm shooting for geocaches that are within a mile (walking distance) of the ramp. Some airports just don't have any that close. Luckily there are courtesy cars, and most of us have GPS's anyway.
